Andrea Thompson was born on January 6, 1960, and was christened Rebecca Andres Thompson. She was born to a devoutly Catholic family in Ohio in the USA. She actually spent a great deal of her childhood living in Australia with her family.
Throughout her career she has made a name for herself both as an actress and as a journalist. Thompson perhaps is best known for her roles on various televisions programs through the years. She had roles on Falcon Crest, NYPD Blue and Babylon 5.
Her first major motion picture role was in Wall Street which also starred Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. In 1995, Thompson married her Babylon 5 co-star Jerry Doyle. The had one son together and ended up divorcing in 1997.
After three seasons on NYPD Blue, Thompson decided to pursue a career in journalism. Her first gig was as a reporter and backup anchor for the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was hired as an evening anchor for CNN Headline News in 2001. She spent only a few months on CNN -- ending up involved in controversy when nude photos and video clips from movies in the 1980s began showing up on the Internet.
She eventually joined the on-air crew at Court TV introducing certain programs. She became involved in television again during the third season of 24, with a recurring guest role on that popular Fox program
