Biography
Andrea Bocelli was born on September 22, 1958, in Italy. He has become a renowned singer, writer as well as a successful music producer. Bocelli has made his mark both as a talented and successful operatic tenor but also as a crossover classical singer.
Thus far in his career, Bocelli has recorded four complete operas: La Boheme, Il Travatore, Werther and Tosca.
What has made Bocelli's life and career all the more amazing is the fact that he is blind. He has congenital glaucoma -- but, those who know him best, maintain that he has never let his blindness hold him back in his life.
Although Bocelli has song in many operas through the year, some strict constructionists maintain that he really is a more popular singer. They contend that because he oftentimes uses a mic when he performs in operas -- which is not the common practice -- he is not a true opera singer. With that said, his albums have sold well and are popular amongst people who enjoy opera. Indeed, his album sales have extended over an international market.
He has performed in many countries around the world and has had occasion to perform with some of the most famous and best regarded opera performers who appear on stages today. He continues to expand his musical horizons by performing in a number of different musical genres. Most people who've observed his career maintain that he will continue to have broad appear beyond the realms of opera lovers well into the future.
