Biography
Former professional wrestler and lead singer of a punk rock band, Amy Dumas was born, April 14, 1975. Her wrestling name was Lita and her punk rock band was called the Luchagors.
Amy went to many different schools throughout her childhood but graduated early in spite of it. She also took three years of Spanish, which she would later use in her career. She was always athletic and was an excellent swimmer and she competed in judo. She also loved music and played the bass guitar.
Dumas became interested in wrestling when she was with a boyfriend who enjoyed it avidly and by watching it she became interested in it. Her interest was so great that she decided to go to Mexico to learn how to wrestle and learn more about the sport and to meet the top in the field. She financed her training in those days by dancing in a club. After completing her training, she made appearances with the Empresa Mexicana de la Lucha Libre.
In 1999, Paul Heyman, the owner of Extreme Championship Wrestling, approached her and she debuted as Miss Congeniality, the on screen girlfriend of Danny Doring and in July of 1999 she made her pay-per-view debut at the Heat Wave 1999, under the name of Angelica.
Following this she attended the Funkin' Conservatory alongside 23 men. She graduated from the scholl and returned to wrestling. Then the World Wrestling Federation saw her and was impressed and in November 1999 she was signed to a deal with the World Wrestling Federation.
She was given the ring name Lita and paired with luchador Essa Rios and they made their WWF debut in February of 2000. She would assist him in winning by mimicking his moves after he had performed them and was one of the first women to ever mimic some of the real difficult moves.
She won two World Women's Championships and her third was on August 14, 2006, by hitting Mickie James with the belt. She again defeated James in a rematch on August 28, 2006 in an episode of RAW, using the ropes this time for leverage and countered a move, which gave her a pin.
