Biography
Born into a wealthy family in India, Amrita learned to speak English, Hindi, Marathi and Konkani. Her move into the modeling field happened by accident when she auditioned for an advertising campaign for Fairever Face Cream. After being selected she then appeared in a number of campaigns for other products before launching into music video. Her first hit was Wo Yaar mera, pyaasr mera aaya hain milne ko, which gave her full recognition as a model. Since that time she has modeled for nearly 35 ads before deciding to act in films.

Her choice to complete her educational pursuits and finish her degree in psychology before she launched her career set her apart from most aspiring actresses.

When she finally went forward with her career in acting she began getting attention immediately. Ads such as Close-up toothpaste and Cadbury's Perk offered her the exposure to step into films. Raj Kanwar, a famous actor saw her ads and got in touch with her and told her of an upcoming movie that he wanted her to be in called Ab Ke Baras.

She really wanted to be in this film because Raj Kanwar is the one director who is very successful with films like Deewana, Judaai, Laadla and the likes. Additionally she wanted to play opposite Arya, another famous actor and also Raj Babbar's son. Raj Babbar is a very well known actor and his son Arya is following in his footsteps.

Amrita also enjoys reading short stories and her favorite book was Chitra Banerjee's book called Arranged Marriage. She also likes storywriter Jeffery Archer. She sometimes has problems with all the gossip and malicious articles that are written in the tabloids and film magazines but realizes that it goes with the territory of being well known and says that she will just need to learn to take things in stride in the future.
