Biography
A well known Canadian pop/rock singer, Amanda Marshall was born on August 29th, 1972 in Toronto, Ontario. Her passion for music was obvious from childhood, when she studied music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto among other venues. She performed in bars, nightclubs and other venues in her teens, and it was during this stage that she met guitarist Jeff Healey who took her under his wing and on tour with him. After this, she was offered a deal by Columbia Records.

The highlights of her career include her signing with Sony Records in 1995, and the release of her debut album that same year. This album, self titled as Amanda Marshall, shot up in ratings quickly, and created six songs which hit the top 40 on the charts including "Dark Horse," "Beautiful Goodbye," "Sitting on Top of the World," "Birmingham," and "Let it Rain." The biggest hit, internationally, was "Birmingham."

Her next album, entitled Tuesday's Child, changed little, and was received with similar popularity. It expanded on the pop songs and ballads, continuing the emphasis of her strong vocal ability and soulful styling. Several of her songs from this album were featured on television shows and even movie soundtracks. The guitarist from the band Bon Jovi came in to play for her as guest guitarist on the song, "Why Don't You Love Me?"

Her third album announced a shift in her career and style, adding a notable R&B/Soul feel. This change in her sound did not change her success, however, and this third album, released in 2001, was well received by listeners and critics. She has since released a compilation album, and continues to pursue her musical career as one of Canada's top recording artists.
