Amanda Bynes was born April 3rd, 1986 to parents Rick and Lynn in Thousand Oaks, California. She has an older brother, Tommy, and an older sister, Jillian, both of whom work in the medical profession. She began her acting career early, performing in stage productions of Annie, The Music Man, and The Sound of Music during her childhood, and attending a acting camps at the age of 8. Her first major role was on the children's television network
Nickelodeon, in their comedy serials, Figure It Out, and All That. She was next given her own show on the network, called The Amanda Show, where she hosted a series of comedic sketches, and even stalked herself, playing an obsessive Amanda fan named Penelope Taynt.
She transitioned from television to the big screen with a role alongside Frankie Muniz in a film called Big Fat Liar. She went solo soon after that, playing the lead role in What a Girl Wants. Although stating that she is looking to move away from roles that she feels are immature, she was cast and starred in She's the Man, a comedic story about a girl who impersonates her brother in order to be allowed to join an athletics team. She is currently filming in a screen adaptation of the Broadway musical, Hairspray. She has also been cast for a role in a movie about the college Greek system called Sydney White and the Seven Dorks.
Bynes graduated from Thousand Oaks High School's independent study program, and has expressed a desire to attend New York University. She is interested in fashion design and painting, owns a dog named Midge, and drives a Lexus sedan. After a short stay in an apartment in Hollywood, she has returned to her family home.
