With roles in popular comedies like Date Movie and American Pie, as well as noted television serials like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alyson Hannigan has become a recognized face in film and television today. Beginning her acting career formally in 1985 when she moved to Southern California from here childhood home in Atlanta, her first major role was in the sci-fi comedy, My Stepmother is an Alien. She progressed into larger and larger roles, and is currently playing a kindergarten teacher named Lily in the CBS comedy, How I met your Mother.

Alyson was born on March 24, 1974 to parents Albert Hannigan and Emilie Posner, combining her father's Irish American heritage with her mother's Jewish background. Her parents divorced soon after her birth, and she was primarily raised by her mother in Atlanta. She and her mother moved to California in 1985, making her budding acting career possible.

In her current personal life, Alyson is reserved, attempting to keep her private business out of the public eye. She is not known for dramatics or hysterics, but she does like to color her hair, which, according to her is naturally auburn, but often changes between a vibrant red and shades of chocolate. She lives in Sacramento with her husband Alexis Denisof, who she met during her stint in Buffy. Alyson continues to pursue her acting career with passion, and she has a sense of humor. During her role in Date Movie, a spoof on the common genre, she effectively made fun of several of her own previous roles in movies like American Pie.
