Biography
When it comes to actors and actresses, none of them gain our attention faster than those who play the zany, yuppie characters we love to love and love to make fun of. Ally Walker is not only famous for being one of these yuppie characters in b-grade big screen films, but she has also been well known throughout her career for her television commercials and television soaps and series roles.
Born Allene Damian Walker on 25 August 1961 in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Ally's childhood dreams were not ones of stardom and big screen fame. She attended the University of California in Santa Cruz, New Mexico with the hopes of becoming a big time chemist or biologist. Once she graduated, Ally (who had become interested in the fun and challenges associated with the theater during college) worked on a genetic engineering project until she was discovered in a restaurant in LA and cast in a movie. This moment in Ally's life could be considered her big break into acting.
During the 1980s she appeared in smaller and starring roles in a number of television soap operas, television series and movies including Santa Barbara (1984 - a soap opera on which she was a regular), True Blue (1989), The Big Dish(1989) and Swimsuit (1989).
Ally had her first mega break in 1990 when she was cast in The Loner. This role led to a number of other offers the early 90s, including Perry Mason: The Case of the Fatal Fashion (1991), Eye of the Storm (1991), Universal Soldier (1992), Singles (1992), The Seventh Coin (1992), When the Bough Breaks (1992), and Moon Over Miami (1993).
It wasn't until 1995 that Ally received the role that would captivate audiences for over a decade-we still talk about her today. In 1995, Ally was cast as the unsuspecting girlfriend of Pete Gallagher in While You Were Sleeping, one of the hit films of that year, earning most of the actors, including Ally, critical acclaim.
After that she won starring roles in Steal Big, Steal Little (1995 in which she played Bonnie Martin), Kazaam (1996 as Alice Connor), Bed of Roses (1996 as Wendy opposite the hunky Casanova of the year, Christian Slater), Brittle Glory (1997), If You Believe (1999) and Happy Texas (1999).
One of her biggest roles on television after Santa Barbara came with her role as Dr. Samantha Waters on "Profiler" which ran from 1996-1999.
But Ally is not simply an actress. She's also been an avid modeling phenomena, landing the role as Clairol's Nice n' Easy featured model in 1989.
Since the peak of her career, Ally has continuously appeared in films and on tv, although not in any truly significant roles.
Ally is married to former NBC producer, John Landgraf and they have three children, whom Ally takes care of.
Ally's quirkiness and intelligence are rare in Hollywood and throughout the world at large, which is why she was named as one of People Magazine's 40 Most Fascinating People on TV.
