Biography
She's a beautiful dancer...renowned for her accuracy, flexibility and grace...and yet, you probably only know her as a chart-topping singing sensation. Alizee is not one of the world's most successful singers but she also has roots in dancing, her first love and near-profession.

Although Alizee became an overnight singing sensation by chance and bad luck, she clearly took her early success as a sign from above and took on the challenge of becoming an international pop sensation.

Born Alizee Jacotey on 21 August 1984, in Ajaccio, Corsica, Alizee was destined to be a ballerina by the young age of 4, although she had become quite proficient and skilled in the art. From age 5 to age 15, Alizee trained at the renowned "Ecole du Spectacle de Monique Mufraggi" school in Corsica and in 1999, she appeared on the talent search contest show "Graines de Star."

The 1999 broadcast of "Graines de Star" turned out to be both Alizee's biggest disappointment and her big break. She wanted to sign up for the dance portion of the contest, but soloists were not allowed, so Alizee contended in the singing category, winning the award for the Promising Young Singing Star of Tomorrow, which also landed her an audition with legendary French singer Mylene Farmer, who selected Alizee to work on her newest project.

Alizee's first album, "Gourmandises" (portraying Alizee as a young, beautiful and romantic young singer), released in 2000 was a smash hit in France that flew off the shelves like birds on street disturbed by cars, and opened the doors for the immense success of her second album, "Mes Courants Electriques"(although the album was not nearly as successful as her first) in 2003 and her live album "Alizee in Concert" in 2004.

Although Alizee has been extremely successful in her singing career, having sold more than five million albums across Europe alone and has had her first song and single "Moi Lolita" used the world over in movies such as a "A Good Year" (America 2006), Alizee also makes time for charity work. Every year, Alizee helps to organize charity concerts that raise money to feed the poor in France and benefit the lend-a-hand charity Les Restaurants du Coeur.

Alizee was married to fellow French singer Jeremy Chatelain in 2003 and they had their first child in mid 2005. Since her marriage, Alizee has taken a hiatus from singing, and rumors have abounded that she will not return to the microphone, both Alizee and her publicist have insisted since mid 2006 that a third pre-recorded album for Alizee is in the works, although they do not have a speculated release date for the album as of yet.

So whether you next hear her in a American cinema film or on her new record, due out anytime soon we hope, Alizee's impassioned sense of life has made an impact on singing and dancing alike throughout Europe like a wind in April, which is why she is seen as Europe's "trade wind."
