Biography
Alexis Denisof was born on February 25, 1966 in Salisbury, Maryland. He is an American actor of Russian descent, and is famous for his role of Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in the popular television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.
Although Denisof was born in US, he spent most of his time working in Britain for quite a few years. He used his talent as a fight director for a stage production of Hamlet and around July 1991, he became the fight director for The Other Side for the BBC, Romeo and Juliet, and The Soul's Dark Night. While in Britain, he dated the comedienne Caroline Aherne. Around the same time, he appeared with Sean Bean in three episodes of Sharpe. Some of his stage productions include one with Anthony Stewart Head, who played Wesley's predecessor Rupert Giles on Buffy.
Wesley's character or Denisof was first introduced in Buffy the Vampire Slayer season three as Buffy Summers' replacement Watcher. The episode was Bad girls and in this, he was sent by the Watcher's Council to Sunnydale to replace Giles. Wesley was introduced as a clean-cut, arrogant, and bossy watcher who was disliked by the Slayers. Before Wesley was sent for his assignment with Buffy and Faith, his only encounter with vampires had been brief. The television series shows him helping Buffy fight the deciding battle on high school graduation day, where the Sunnydale mayor transforms into a powerful demonic form. The final appearance of Wesley in the Buffy series showed him being carried away on a stretcher.
He later showed up in season one of Angel, and became a regular character in that series from episode 11. As the television series progressed, Wesley grew from being Angel's comic-relief sidekick to a mature and capable man with the brains and leadership qualities to guide Angel Investigations. Although he was not the best in a hand-to-hand combat situation but Wesley proved his abilities with his aim of throwing weapons and firearms. Denisof married Alyson Hannigan, who played Willow Rosenberg in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, on October 11, 2003. They have a home in London and Sacramento but are living in Los Angeles.
