Biography
Every woman is empowered by a sense of being able to kick everyone's butt that gets into your way. Alexandra Tydings is not only one of our favorite examples of a butt-kicking babe from yesterday, but is also the woman who now gets women into a butt-kicking shape of their own.

Aside from being, the quintessential wonder woman of our time Alexandra also has roots in music and a heavy education. Whatever spare time she has, Alexandra spends with her two children.

Born on 15 December 1972, in Washington, D.C., Alexandra probably learned her early aggression tactics from convincing people that she deserved to be given both a birthday gift as well as a Christmas gift separately rather a single combined gift.

Alexandra did have her girly side, though. She began her career playing the role of a student in the Royal Ballet company's production of Isadora at age 11.

She grew up in Washington, D.C. during its punk retaliation phase and was more than happy to play the bass and croon the tunes for two different punk bands, Annabelle Kickbox and She's Seen You Naked, during her youth. Alexandra only gave up her punk phase to attend and graduate in film and critical theory from Brown University in 1993.

From there she moved into acting, receiving her first big television break by landing the role of Aphrodite on the television series "Hercules." Alexandra earned her stability and her wings on the show over the course of the next three years. When "Xena: Warrior Princess" rolled onto the scene (and used her for four seasons), Alexandra was more than happy to oblige the directors when they asked her to play Aphrodite on that show as well. For two years, the two shows played crossover with one another, often having the same storylines, or by having characters meet each other in battle or in collaboration...or just walking down the path. Alexandra's role as Aphrodite was crucial in creating the testy; jealousness that often propelled the show forward whenever she was involved. Alexandra's feisty attitude on-screen as the often green-eyed goddess of love proved that she had the skills to maintain such a demanding role, while still keeping her wits about her.

Alexandra is married to Ben Luzzatto and they have two children together; their most recent, a daughter, born in early 2006.

Currently, Alexandra has taken a break from acting and is wisely using her time to not only keep herself in shape but also break other women out of their shells and turn them into butt-kicking, attention-getting beauties with her "Rock-n-Roll Yoga" courses that she teaches in Washington, D.C.
