Biography
Nothing truly compares to a Baywatch babe...except maybe a Baywatch Lieutenant? Alexandra Paul is not only an alumna of the incredibly successful Baywatch, but is also a revered and coveted actress who has made her way through the ranks of daytime and evening old time soaps to the top of the acting chain.
Aside from having been a fit and sexy member of the Baywatch squad, Alexandra believes in real life fitness for the length of her life. And in her spare time, she is an advocate for the environment, in the extreme.
Alexandra may have forgone college and her modeling career to pursue acting, but she has proven to the world that she can do anything, not only on screen, but also in life. She has taken her life, its ups and its down, in stride, using all of her life's experiences to make her both a better actress and a better person.
Born on 29 July 1963, in New York City, Alexandra was born with the makings of a superstar. By the time she reached college which she paid for with modeling money, Alexandra knew that she wanted to be an actress. She quit both modeling and college and immediately landed a role in the 1982 television movie "Paper Dolls" opposite Darryl Hannah, and the film turned out to be one of the most successful of the year. Since then, Alexandra has appeared in dozens of big screen and television movies, including Dragnet, Christine, Perry Mason (more than once), Nightwatch and Spy Hard.
But Alexandra was made to rule the small screen with roles like her years on Baywatch as well as her leading role as Terri O'Brien on the still talked-about Melrose Place.
Although Alexandra has been hugely successful in the acting world, her true spirits lie with activism and helping others. Not only is Alexandra a certified EMT, but she also found the Population Education Project in 1986 to educate the youth of Los Angeles about the environment and its importance. Alexandra herself owns an electric car, and would not allow guests to bring gifts to her wedding, for fear of wasting natural resources. Alexandra is also responsible for Young Artists United, a group of young actors dedicated to portraying good role models for young kids, not only in Los Angeles, but also across the world, proving that even actors can create accountability for other actors.
In 1998, Alexandra completed the entire Ironman Triathlon Competition, although she did not win and in 2005, was awarded with the ACLU's Activist of the Year award.
Alexandra married fellow actor, Ian Murray, in 2000, completing another triathlon as part of the honeymoon, her new hubby at her side, or rather, fighting for the gold against her.
So whether you next see her in a race, fighting for the environment or on a late night rerun of the babe-infested Baywatch, Alexandra's determination in her career and in her life have truly made her worthy of being called Lieutenant.
