Biography
A woman can't ask for more than this: he's sexy, he speaks softly and he carries a big stick...that he uses to hit a ball. Alex Rodriguez is perhaps one of baseball's most promising players for the future and most successful players of today, winning games and awards left and right for the spirit of the thing he loves second-most (his family always comes first).

Aside from being a fantastic sports hero and underdog, Alex is a favorite pick for magazine shots and has occasionally been known to grace the pages of Sports Illustrated and even Vogue.

Alex may have started off with a rough home life in the Dominican Republic and later Miami, his family abandoned by his father and his mother forced to take care of her three children on her own, but the excessive hours spent playing ball and chasing after his friends paid off in the long run.

Born Alexander Emanuel Rodriguez on the 27 July 1975, in New York City, Alex never could have dreamed that he would grow up to be one of the most successful and best traded baseball cards in history (after Sandy, the Babe and Lou, of course).

Alex debuted in the major leagues for the Seattle Mariners in 1994 and over the next six years not only proved himself to be a covet-worthy player and formidable opponent, but also helped bring the Mariners to three playoff appearances. In 1998, he became a member of the 40-40 club, having taken 40 home runs and 40 steals in the same season.

Alex's big break into the fame and fortune of baseball came in 2000, when he signed a contract for two-hundred fifty-six (256) million dollars to play shortstop for the Texas Rangers. Over the next four years, Alex proved repeatedly that he was the player to watch. In 2001, he led the American League in home runs and in 2003, broke Jimmie Foxx's record as the youngest player to hit 300 home runs.

In 2004, Alex received the greatest honor of his life and every baseball player's dream when he was traded to the New York Yankees, playing 3rd baseman and wearing the number 13. Since then, Alex has remained an active and avid player for the Yankees, continuously proving every year that he is the best and will continue to be the best.

In 2005, Alex became the youngest player ever in the league to hit 400 home runs and the only player to do so before turning 30 years old-it is rumored that he may eventually break Hank Aaron's record on the all-time home runs list, a rumor that does not follow many, if any, other baseball players. Alex has also been a 6-time All Star baseball player pick.

Alex married his longtime girlfriend, Cythia Scurtis, in 2002, and they have two children.

So whether you next see him hitting a grand slam into the stands for the cheering and screaming fans, or snuggling up to his sweet wife and children for a photo shoot, Alex's masculinity is transcendent across all barriers, which is why he was named as one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People.
