Biography
The legacy of ABBA, has survived even though the disparate members of the groups have now lived in obscurity for over two decades. Agnetha Faltskog has led the life of recluse ever since the band split up in 1983. After a string of not so successful love affairs and a failed second marriage, this blonde bombshell from Sweden, retried to a tiny island near Stockholm.

Today, Agnetha leads a solitary existence, and receive regular psychiatric counselling for many phobias including crowds, flying, driving, and fear of heights, open spaces, and driving.

Born Agnetha ųe F䬴skog on 5 April 1950, in J?ping, Sweden, Agnetha wrote her first song when she was just six years old. At sixteen, she started singing with a dance band called Bernt Enghardts. She wrote and sang her first single (1969) - 'I Was So In Love' - in Swedish, which went on to become a number one hit on the Swedish charts. The following years proved fruitful for Agnetha as she managed to belt out a series of hits in her country as well as in West Germany. She also met Bj?Ulvaeus in 1969, and got engaged to him a year later. In late 1970, the couple performed in a cabaret along with Bj?s songwriter partner, Benny Andersson, and his fianc饬 Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The following year Agnetha got married to Bj?

Agnetha was selected to play the part of Mary Magdalene in the Swedish theatre production of the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' in early 1972. The next decade would be very busy for Agnetha. Not only was she occupied by her work and shows with ABBA, she also got busy releasing her Swedish solo album Elva kvinnor i ett hus ("Eleven Women In One House").

Towards the end of the decade, ABBA's popularity was diminishing, and the group was disintegrating due to internal strife. And in 1982, Agnetha debuted as an actress in her native language movie 'Rakenstam'. The following year, 1983, Agnetha began work on her first solo album in English, 'Wrap Your Arms Around Me', which was produced by Mike Chapman. And her second album - 'Eyes Of A Woman' - saw an international release in 1985. After the release of 'I Stand Alone', her third and final English language solo album in 1987, Agnetha withdrew completely from the public life.

A compilation CD of Agnetha's choice of songs in English and Swedish was released in 1996, called 'My Love, My Life'. Around the same time, her autobiography 'As I Am' was also published in Swedish, and in English in 1997.

The year 2004, the comeback year for Agnetha, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of ABBA's triumph at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974, saw the release of her brand new CD, 'My Colouring Book'. The album's single 'If I Thought You'd Ever Change Your Mind' peaked at #11 on UK Singles Chart while becoming a sizeable hit across Europe.

Undoubtedly, Agnetha was the glamour face and the beautiful, sweet lilting voice of ABBA. It's after all no mean feat to have sold 350 million albums worldwide, with over 23 hits, and eight #1s, in only ten years!

Agnetha Faltskog is on the verge of releasing a new album this year, according to The Daily Mirror. But much information is not available about this.
