Biography
He has the reputation of being a laid-back, simple, genial stand-up comic. He graduated from the NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' Classic Comedy act and rose up the ladder to become one of the most sought after comedians in Hollywood.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on 9 September 1966, Adam Sandler moved to Manchester, New Hampshire with his family when he was six. A self-confessed fan of Rodney Dangerfield, Cheech & Chong, and movie 'Caddyshack' have been his sources of inspirations in the younger days. After performing in comedies at undergraduate level at NYU, he landed the role of Theo's friend 'Smitty'; it was a recurring role, on NBC's super hit comedy 'The Cosby Show'.

Dennis Miller 'spotted' him while Adam was doing rounds of the local comedy clubs in L.A. Ironically, Adam was hired as a writer for the 'SNL' series, rather than performing for it. But with a year, Adam began making onscreen appearances, and his dunce characters - Canteen Boy, Iraqi Pete, and Cajun Man - became big hits with the audiences and he soon began a regular on SNL!

From SNL, Adam's transition to cinemascope saw him debut in the cult comedy 'Shakes the Clown' (1992). This act was followed with a small role in 'Coneheads' (1993) and a meatier role in 'Airheads' (1994). 'Mixed Nuts' (1994) saw Adam playing goofball and having an unrequited crush on co-star Rita Wilson. 'Billy Madison' (1995) was Adam's first success at co-writing a movie. He wrapped the year with a comic song 'Hanukkah Song' that became a surprise hit on most radio stations in US. The commercially successful Billy Madison prompted Adam to co-write another comedy 'Happy Gilmore' (1996) and it raked in $40 million! One successful film followed another. But no one was, including Adam Sandler, was prepared for the phenomenal success of 'The Wedding Singer' (1998) that grossed $80 Million and added new fans - women - to his fan base. 'Waterboy' released in the same year was another hit.

Now, Sandler was being touted as the heir apparent to Jim Carrey's comedy throne! He headlined again with 'Big Daddy' (1999) and went on to endear Sandler's underdog quality and vulnerability to his increasing fan base. 'Mr. Deeds' (2002) didn't make much noise, but Adam probably sensed a need for change and acted in 'Punch-Drunk Love' (2002), a dramatic comedy, that not only premiered at the Cannes, but also won The Golden Palm award. With 'Anger Management' (2003), '50 First Dates' (2004), and 'Spanglish' (2004) Adam proved that he was not just an excellent comic but a good actor as well.

Adam disappeared from the spotlight for a stretch; he and his wife had a baby girl in May 2006, and he came back with a brand new comedy 'Click' (2006). The movie saw him play the role of a hardworking Architect who has an ungrateful boss played by David Hasselhoff, became a big hit. Adam was back in the reckoning and managed not to disappoint his fans. He has starred in seven $100 million films and one of the most popular Hollywood stars!
Adam Sandler is married to Jackie Titone and they have a daughter - Sadie Madison Sandler.
