Biography
A self-confessed movie buff, Adam Brody shot to fame with the very hot and popular O.C. Like Brody says, "I love movie-making. I'm interested in writing and directing, and I've dabbled, but I haven't done anything I care to brag about. Yet." He also admits that he decided to become an actor after he saw the mystery movie 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'. Needless to say, his decision came as a big surprise to his parents.
Born on 15 December 1979, in San Diego, California, Adam spent most of his pre-teens doing all things boys his age do, surfing, swimming, and hanging out with friends. However, having caught the acting bug early in life, Adam convinced his folks to allow him to attend college in L.A. after he completed his graduation.
Once in L.A., Adam gave up on all thought of studies, and instead enrolled in an acting school, hired an acting coach, and signed up with a manager. He struck lucky and started getting acting assignments without much difficulty. He did small roles in TV commercials, pilots, and soaps. Seems like, destiny also intended for Adam to become an actor, as he landed lead role in the NBC movie-of-the-week, Growing Up Brady (2000) (TV), playing Barry Williams (Greg Brady).
But, Adam was never the usual teen heartthrob. After looking at his performance in Growing Up Brady, MTV picked him as the lead in the cult series 'Now What?' Adam also landed roles in other TV shows such as ABC's 'Once and Again' where he had a recurring role as Coop (1999), 'Gilmore Girls' (2000), standout guest roles in 'Judging Amy' (1999), 'Family Law' (1999), and 'Smallville' (2001).
The year 2003 was a turning point in Adam's professional life and his acting career was about to change radically. Adam was cast to play the loveable and geeky Seth Cohen; the son of Peter Gallagher, in 'The O.C.' Adam had truly arrived! The O.C. cast includes Peter Gallagher, Benjamin McKenzie, Mischa Barton, and Rachel Bilson. During the course of shooting for O.C, Adam and Rachel Bilson became a couple. However, on 5 December 2006 Adam broke up with his girlfriend of over two years, Rachel Bilson.
With O.C. Adam found himself catapulted to newer heights of celebrity and popularity. His warm and winning smile endeared him to young teenager girls across America and also made him the #1 pin-up celebrity in U.K.
The phenomenal success and popularity of Adam's role as Seth Cohen in O.C. pushed him to try his luck in Hollywood. His ever-growing resume includes movies such as 'The Ring' (2002) a thriller starring Naomi Watts, 'Missing Brendan' (2003) in which he played the dynamic lead as Patrick, 'Grind' (2003) a skateboarding movie and 'American Pie 2'. He has also worked with Hollywood A list stars, Angelina Jolie, and Brad Pitt in the movie 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' (2005). His other film credits include movies like 'Thank You for Smoking' (2006) and the upcoming 'Land of Women' and 'Smiley Face' (2007).
