Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, Cissy Houston, told Us Weekly that her granddaughter suffered brain damage so severe it is irreversible.

Her announcement comes just days after Bobby Brown made a statement that “Bobbi is awake and has improved and will live a long life but the quality of her life will not be known for years to come.”

Whitney Houston’s mother released a statement following a visit to the hospital where her granddaughter has been under care since January 31 when she was found facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub.

“I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive,”

Houston’s April 20 statement further reads, “Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me. We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers.”

The case of Bobbi Kristina Brown remains under criminal investigation.
