That was quick. Famed country singers Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have shocked fans with a split announcement, as no one saw the split coming.
It seems that the singing duo decided not to make any headlines before the last call, to avoid the public’s omnipresent eye for as long as possible.
Reportedly, Shelton filed his divorce papers two weeks ago, and a judge signed off on the documents on Monday, July 20.
The sad news came from the country superstars’ joint statement, which read that the divorce was “not a future they envisioned” for their relationship: “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
The former performing power couple met back in 2005, during an onstage duet. At the time, Shelton was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Gern, whom he had divorced in 2006.
Lambert’s last interview before the split was a bit of a peek into the future, as she said that they were settling into a routine. It looks like that the routine took its toll, as one of the most stable marriages and one of the biggest love stories in the entertainment business fell apart.
