It has been less than a year since Oscar-nominated British actor Benedict Cumberbatch and theater director Sophie Hunter made their first public appearance as a couple, and even way less than it was announced that they’re expecting a baby, but it seems that the gorgeous couple wasn’t willing to wait any longer.
Benedict and Sophie got married on Saturday February 14th, in a private ceremony at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church in the town of Mottistone on the Isle of Wight in England, surrounded by about 100 family members and friends; it was confirmed by their representatives. Yes, on Valentine’s Day.
The wedding ceremony was followed by a reception at the centuries-old Mottistone Manor, since Sophie’s maternal great-great-grandfather is John Seely, the first Baron Mottistone, whose family had purchased the property in the 1860s.
Cumberbatch and Hunter’s engagement was announced with a notice placed in the London Times in early November, only two months prior to the reveal that Hunter was pregnant with their first child together.
The gorgeously elegant British couple will have to postpone their honeymoon for the time being, because the groom has obligations in Los Angeles and at the upcoming Oscars.
