Kate Beckinsale is one of the most naturally beautiful actresses in Hollywood with deep brown eyes, chestnut hair and an enviously fresh complexion that belies her 40 years. She has appeared in an eclectic range of movies including Pearl Harbour, The Aviator, Underworld and Total Recall.
Kate has carved out her own signature style as she manages to look incredibly sexy yet elegant at the same time. The following outfits are ten of the sexiest numbers that Kate has debuted on the red carpet.
1. Red Wrap Dress – The Pink Party
Kate proved that less is definitely more when she arrived in a stunning floor-length red dress for the Pink Party in California.
The dress featured a wrap detail in front to accentuate the actress’s curves and a low neckline that revealed a hint of cleavage. Kate teamed her Donna Karen creation with a pair of black and silver stiletto heels, a black leather wrist cuff and matching clutch.
The star also brought along two other very special accessories on the night. Kate’s 14-year-old daughter Lily and husband Len Wiseman joined her on the red carpet to pose for waiting photographers.
2. Red and Black Mini – Grammys After Party
Despite not being nominated for a Grammy, Kate managed to steal the show in a Rubin Singer mini-dress that barely concealed her modesty. The tight, strapless dress featured a black and red design and ruched detail on one side. The dress displayed Kate’s incredibly long, toned legs and she finished the look with a pair of simple black stilettos.
The actress chose to wear minimal makeup, a messy ponytail and not a scrap of jewellery. It can be difficult to pull off such a sexy dress when you are over 40, but by teaming it with simple accessories Kate managed it perfectly
3. Brown One-Shoulder Dress – Elton John Aids Foundation
The Academy Awards always features an endless array of jaw-dropping gowns as the stars gather in some of the best creations that are still fresh off the runway. However, the after parties also attract a large amount of celebrities that are all clad in spectacular designs.
For the Elton John Aids Foundation Academy Awards after party, Kate chose a one-shoulder Monique Lhuillier gown in a deep chocolate brown. The Grecian-style dress included a sexy cut-out panel at the side and ruffled lace detail through the skirt. Kate wore her hair in her signature messy up-do and completed the look with chandelier earrings
4. Black Asymmetrical Gown – Star Trek Premiere
At the premiere for Star Trek: Into the Darkness, Kate went for a futuristic style that helped her stand out on the red carpet. Her black Alberta Ferretti dress featured an asymmetrical hemline and slightly flared skirt.
The dress also clung to the actress’s hips and finished with a simple strapless neckline. However, the real focus point was Kate’s neon, statement heels that had everybody talking on the night. The Jimmy Choo stilettos were all-black with a fluorescent yellow strap that finished the look perfectly. A pair of dangly earrings and side-swept hair formed the ideal accessories.
5. Strapless Mermaid Gown – 69 th Annual Golden Globes
Getting noticed at the Golden Globes is no easy feat, and many actresses have found themselves being ignored by the style police in favour of more stylish attendees. However, Kate made sure that all eyes were on her as she arrived at the 69th Annual Golden Globe awards in a soft blush gown designed by Roberta Cavalli.
The floor-length dress featured a mermaid hemline for maximum glamour and a trendy take on the traditional strapless neckline. The gown was adorned with hundreds of tiny white jewels that sparkled under the paparazzi’s flashbulbs. Kate added some simple diamond cuffs and chandelier earrings to the look
6. Pink Grecian Gown – Chopard 150 th Anniversary Party
Showing her love for the Grecian style once again, Kate chose this awesome creation for the Chopard 150th anniversary party at Cannes. The diablo beaded drape gown by Temperly London hung beautifully from the actress’s slim frame.
The pale pink colour was a perfect choice for Kate as it highlighted her deep tan and glowing skin. Kate teamed the dress with some silver pumps and jewellery by Chopard. Kate is often seen in girly, feminine gowns that suit her perfectly. Her elegance and effortless beauty are the perfect accessories to complement this unusual design.
7. One Shoulder Gown – Total Recall LA Premiere
Kate is well-known for selecting her outfits to match the occasion. Whether the night calls for understated glamour, jaw-dropping sexiness or something a little different, Kate will always manage to pull something out of the bag.
At the Total Recall Premiere in LA, Kate wore a quirky snake print dress that earned her major style points from the fashion critics. The dress fit perfectly with the movie’s futuristic theme and provided a welcome change from the usual red carpet gowns.
Kate looked stunning in the black and yellow figure-hugging design that featured a separate panel around the chest to contrast the bright yellow scales.
8. Long-sleeved Mini-Dress – MTV Movie Awards
Kate showcased her long, toned legs once more at the MTV Movie awards in a long-sleeved Christian Dior sweater dress. The pale-pink dress featured a high, turtleneck collar and dangerously short hemline. The dress had a slight ruching through the midsection which drew attention to the star’s tiny waist. Kate chose Salvatore Ferragamo purple stilettos and a gold Kotur cutch.
The actress styled her hair back into an elegant ponytail save for one stylish curl that fell on her cheekbone. Kate took the stage alongside Ellie Kemper to present an award for Best Cast and managed to effortlessly outshine the much younger actress
9. Purple Jumpsuit – Independent Spirit Awards
Proving that she can do trendy as well as sexy, Kate opted for a deep purple jumpsuit at the Independent Spirit Awards. The suit was designed by Diane Von Furstenberg and draped over one shoulder before wrapping around Kate’s waist. The front panel was secured in place by a tie detail on the hip.
The suit was a breath of fresh air from Kate’s usual ultra-glam style and stood out from the other outfits on the red carpet. The actress wore her hair down for a change in loose ringlets around her face and finished the look with brown peep-toe heels.
10. Black Beaded Gown Vanity Fair Oscar Party
Kate’s sexiest look to date is the illusion scoop-back gown she wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. The dress was a stunning floor length dress complete with thousands of tiny beads. Designed by Julien MacDonald, the gown featured a transparent panel in the back that showed off more than a fair amount of skin.
Kate accessorised with a Roger Vivier Boite de Nuit clutch and a stunning green emerald ring by Chopard. Len Wiseman stuck close to his wife’s side throughout the night and was on-hand to provide Kate with a shoulder to lean on in her black stiletto heels.
