  • Charles Caswell

Not one surprise here. Except Wayne Coyne. The surpise is that he is a celebrity. Never heard of him.
Billy Holiday had more than just alcohol though. As for Mickey Mantle, I thought everybody knew that.

    • Kat S

What would these people do if they had real problems like trying to pay the rent, put food on the table and have dismal lives like the vast majority of people on this planet??? Instead of being addicted to some substance and whining about how tough life is, they should be kissing the ground every day for the unbelievable existence they were lucky enough to have.

    • officerDave

Sorry, bro. But ‘most’ people on this planet get along pretty well. And dang near NO ONE in the U.S. is getting along poorly when compared to other countries. Try living in a cardboard shack and eating garbage: we don’t have that here, unless you’re talking about the mentally ill street folks who are almost beyond help.
If you think paying the rent is a big deal, imagine life when half (or more) of you day is completely out of control. You can’t keep a job, relationships, personal daily obligations. Being an addict leads to all of the challenges you site, and a whole lot more.

      • Ren Rivers

Sorry there OD, (pun intended), but it is pretty evident from your statement that you haven’t traveled a lot, and especially not out the United States, or else you missed the memorandum. While the United States was once a very wealthy nation, even then their was a very evident portion of the country that lived on poverty, Unfortunately, over the years, and especially over the last decade, the propensity for wealth in America has declined immensely. We now have millions of people living in poverty and on the streets, and there are more than a few that live in cardboard boxes, or have even less, and go “dumpster diving” on a daily bases just to get enough to keep from going hungry and this includes a large number of families, and children. Moreover, many of these people are not addicts or mentally ill, but just down on their luck. I have over the years known many families of young Americans who struggled on a daily bases just to pay the rent and put food on the table. Maybe you should go and volunteer at your local food bank, you might be sadly awakened to the number of elderly Americans that also live in poverty.

As for poverty in foreign countries, much like it is in the United States, many of those in poverty, are not in poverty due to their own bidding, but unfortunately due to the greed and tyranny of their leaders. However there are many countries that have much less poverty than the United States.

We will only be getting there fast with the gambling this Government has been doing. I worked in the welfare systen in the 70′s through now, more people on welfarer and food stamps than ever before. Our country is a mess.China’s economt is booming while we are going down fast, not surprising to me.

      • abbygal64

officerDave……Where have you been? It’s a myth that the USA is wealthy, we have come down a long ways in the last 5 yrs. I work in the welfare system and the poor out number the rich. We have many “families” who live in their cars now or under the bridges and they are not mentally ill, they lost their jobs, homes and no way of getting pulled back up. The shelters turn away more homeless than they take in because there are not enough shelters to house so many people. AND it is getting worse with all the businesses cutting workers or going out of business because they can’t afford AFC.We will be a Third World Country in the near future and thanks to all our out sourcing China will be the power and it is getting there fast, we owe them billions and keep on spending us more in to debt. Can’t get out of debt by spending more, any kid can tell ya that!! More people on food stamps then ever before in history and I know it because I work there. It’s not all mental cases or drug cases, iit’s job loss, home loss and we are taxed to death.

  • Mickey

Juice and celebrity go hand in hand. Whoever thought otherwise? In fact celebrity IS juice!

    • rayg0838

And you should stay off the ZOMBIE JUICE, and try joining the real world…..Just A Thought!!!

  • Henry James

Addiction to alcohol is called alcoholism. The disease is difficult to overcome because the urge to have a drink is always there. My brother died of alcohol poisoning and yes you can die from it.

    • Tom Scheurer

Maybe if people would stop selling the “disease” lie and understand it is a spiritual problem, people might start taking responsibility and help themselves. And don’t tell me about the AMA and their disease diagnosis. They did this without scientific evidence just like they did when they called homosexuality a disease. Look it up. With enough political pressure they changed their minds. They are too cowardly to admit alcoholism is not a disease even though 80% of doctor’s know its not.

      • Zebrafish

Yeah, obviously there is obviously no way it could be a disease, or there would be science behind it. It must be a “spiritual problem” because that is what all the science points to, a spirit.

Oh, i see, that was a joke spiritual, like spirits are booze, my mistake.

  • vanna

Is it me or does Kanye West look like Bubba from FOREST GUMP….ugh!!
